Fatburger

An ex-coworker recently did a couple posts on meat battles between restaurants, and one of them was on the burgers at Fatburger and Vera’s. I had never visited her blog before she left the office - no particular reason. She was an awesome person to work with, very detail oriented, easy-going, and most patient with my questions. You could not imagine my gratefulness to her assistance until you have seen how things operate at my workplace.

For most of the time, you’re left to figure things out on your own because they are too busy to tend to your questions. And at this point, you may think, “Gee, what a snob you are! That’s how it works at a workplace!” Well, if that’s the reality of a workplace, then I am comforted to know that I could definitely do most of their work. What is annoying about the people whom I work with is that they would ask you to figure things out on your own when they were the ones who knew the answer; the only ones! So naturally things don’t get done efficiently, and they don’t seem a bit mindful about it. And while my ex-coworker, who sarcastically left me a message saying how she would miss everything about working at ****, and had been casting her doubt on the quality the “professionals” at our office, I have no doubt that I’d be able to become one judging from the quality of their work. Oh well, I get paid decent for the work I do.

After reading her post – you’d have to be quite disciplined to read through it without salivating – I decided to try the burgers for myself. I managed to suppress this “libido” till the following day instead of hopping on a night bus for my little advanture on the same day that I had eaten three orders of dessert at Sweet Obsession. That's right! I ate 2000 Kcal in a single afternoon in addition to my regualr meals. So no, I am not an anorexic person, and I needed to control my appetite. Um..no, I’m not a bulimic person either. I do binge on sweets, but only occasionally. But would you consider eating three pieces of cake on a single occassion binging? Not by my standard.

Since Pavel is a meat lover, who else would be a better companion for such deluxe of animal protein and saturated fat?

English Bay

English Bay Afternoon2.jpg

Pavel and I met up on Denman and Davie street. I had arrived earlier and had some time to sulk in the sun at English bay. I had been out on my bike a lot when the weathers were nice and warm. Summer is best in Vancouver, and this Summer has been the best one I’ve had since I became a university student. Not that I did anything extraordinary, but living in a new city, in a neighborhood with some characteristics, and so many food establishments to be experienced have made it more interesting than when I was living in White Rock. I know, what a shallow life I have and how easy I am to please. As the sun sets earlier each day, however, it reminds me the approaching eight months of crappy weather, not to mention the beginning of a new school term.

BBQ Burger.jpg

The Ultimate Backyard BBQ Bacon Burger: a juicy beef patty, pieces of lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, onion rings, cheese, and a brush of BBQ sauce. OMG!! Well, you could argue that I couldn’t be a good judge of burgers, since I couldn’t remember the last time when I had one. But oh boy, I love you Sierra and please keep your blog alive for as long as there are burgers!! Go to Vancouver Bites and she’ll tell you how good it is.

Double Fat.jpg

Pavel had ordered a Double Fat. He liked it he said, but he’d prefer a steak. But how do you compare a burger patty and a steak? Poor Pavel was stressed for his upcoming interview at London, King’s College, and had been thinking about it since he had gotten an offer for an interview.

My next assignment would be trying out Vera’s, which is only two stores next to the Fatburger on Denman. Competition makes good foods. So, just when would I want to pay a visit to the second hometown of my life, White Rock?

Strawberry shortcake crepe.jpg

Strawberry Shortcake Crepe is a new product at Konbiniya, a Japanese convenient store on Robson street. I have never had a crepe in my life, and Pavel said that I should have had it at a crepe place than at a Japanese convenient store. But Crepe Café doesn’t have one with a strawberry shortcake wrapped in it – yum yum! He had a Matcha ice cream cone, which was a limited edition. It was VERY Matcha, and those green tea ice creams you get at retails don’t even come close to matching the Matchaness of this ice cream cone, which I could not take a picture of as Pavel had already sunk his tongue in it; a look of a satisfied kid:)

All the photos were taken by and belong to me.
